New Star Ocean 4 Info and Pictures

tri-Ace for the WIN!! I love me some tri-Ace. Star Ocean 2 and 3 were great. (I didn’t play the first one). Don’t get me started on Radiata Stories. I’ve never had more fun kicking everything in sight. And don’t forget Valkyrie Profile! With Star Ocean 4, the 3d anime style and real-time combat game play are back with next generation graphics and awesome looking space vistas. IGN has some new info up for the fourth iteration of the series, which, it seems, will be a prequel. Apparently we should go back and play the first game to find out which characters we’ll probably see in the 4th game. Two main characters have been introduced - Edge Maverick and Reimi Saionji. Now, if we’re going to be giving characters silly names like Edge Maverick, why not just go the full nine and name him Jack Ironballs. I think that’s a better name, don’t you? There are also some pictures from Famitsu posted at JeuxFrance.com here. Present in the pictures is also one of Infinite Undiscovery. Based on tri-Ace’s website, this new IP may be getting more love than the next Star Ocean, at least from a marketing standpoint.
Best RPG: Vagrant Story (PS1)

Best Game About Expanding Green Target Grids EVER
Quietly arriving on PS1 back in 2000 and coming with a demo disc was Squaresoft’s sleeper hit Vagrant Story. As soon as the game begins, the player is greeted with an engaging cinematic prologue thick with atmosphere and featuring a Western-flavored art style rarely seen in games coming out of Japan. And no wonder - character and background designer Akihiko Yoshida once stated in an old interview that Vagrant Story had been designed based on many non-Japanese influences. Accompanying Yoshida and long time collaborator was director Yasumi Matsuno. The two worked together and are largely responsible for the excellence of such titles as Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Final Fantasy XII.

Add First CommentNew Character Screens and Info for Atlus’ RPG Baroque

Atlus has released a slew of new images for their upcoming RPG Baroque. These new images give information about some characters of the game and their roll. These are very interesting in that a lot of the characters appear to be tortured souls. The character designs are also very creative and a little disturbing with limbs being replaced with what looks like tree limbs and body parts attached to the wrong part of the body. This game is coming out on the 8th of next month for the Wii and PS2 and it is looking more interesting with every image I see. I have read it is a very demanding game though and requires a lot of patience.
Add First CommentWeekly RPG Releases: March 24th, 2008

For everyone who owns a PSP this is a great week for RPGs. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core comes out in North America this week. This game has been getting good reviews and from everything I have seen this looks like it will be a great game. Opoona also comes out this week and has had poor reviews for the most part. For PAL territories there are three releases this week including Dungeon Explorer, Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution and Riviera. These game received mixed reviews for the most part, but I did enjoy Riviera quite a bit. This game was released originally on the GameBoy Advance and if you have not had a chance to play it now is a great time to check it out. View complete list of upcoming RPG releases.

New The World Ends With You Gameplay Videos

New videos have been posted for Square Enix RPG The World Ends With You for the DS. The videos show the game in action with battle footage. The game play is extremely stylized, and fast paced with action taking place on the top and bottom screens. Apparently battles take place on two planes of existence and you attack with Neku on the bottom screen and send you Puck, or attack energy, to your partner on the top screen. It seems like a pretty interesting battle system. I am looking forward to trying out for myself. View the full post to watch the two new videos.
1 CommentTwo World Sequel Hitting Xbox and PC Market this Fall

It looks like the open world RPG Two Worlds has spawned a sequel that’s slated for release this year. SouthPeak Games announced that Two Worlds: The Temptation will be available this fall for the Xbox 360 and PC and will continue the story started in the first Two Worlds game. It sounds like they’ll be totally overhauling the graphics engine in addition to making a host of coming of age type updates which include improved character animations and an updated combat system all of which will be greatly appreciated I’m sure by fans.
1 CommentDungeon Explorer Demo for the PSP Available for Download

PSPFanboy has just made available the demo for the PSP RPG Dungeon Explorer. This is a great chance to test out the game. If you have never downloaded a demo for the PSP, it is very easy and they walk you through the process. The game did not get great reviews, but there is still a fun game to be had. If you are on the fence about picking it up now is your chance to try it out.

Add First CommentAtlus’ Persona 4 PS2 Video from Famitsu

A new video has been released for Persona 3 from Atlus. The video came with the latest Famitsu issue and shows a lot of new details about the game. From the video it looks like this game will be as interesting as Persona 3 and it looks a little more mature and dark than the previous games. The trailer also shows new characters and environments. Both look more detailed than Persona 3 and with a grittier feel. The video also shows some of the new personas and demons and they really look great. With how well the other games did in North America hopefully this game will be released also.
